A parade of Schutterijen in Limburg
A “King and Queen” march in a parade of 60 “Schutterijen”, clubs of “marksmen”, who once a year come together in the town of Meerssen near Maastricht, dressed in their traditional uniforms, reenacting the voluntary citizen militia that used to protect the town in the Middle Ages. The King is a honorary position held for a year.
