The view from Gülhane Park, below the Topkapı Palace, to Dolmabahçe Sarayı, the palace in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, that served as the main administrative centre of the Ottoman Empire from 1856 to 1887 and 1909 to 1922. At left is Dolmabahçe Mosque, dating from 1855.
