Elephant Clock

Detail of the replica of an Elephant Clock in the Indian Court in Ibn Battuta Mall. An invention by al-Jazari, a Muslim scholar and inventor who lived from 1136 to 1206, the water-powered clock's various elements are in the housing on top of the elephant and were designed to move and make a sound each half hour.
