Elephant Clock

The replica of an Elephant Clock in the Indian Court in the Ibn Battuta Mall. The elephant clock was an invention by al-Jazari, a Muslim scholar, inventor and craftsman who lived between 1136 and 1206. It consisted of a water-powered clock in the form of an elephant, with the various elements of the clock in the housing on top of the elephant. They were designed to move and make a sound each half hour.
