A parade of Schutterijen in Limburg

Drum band march past

The drum band of the Schutterij “St. Joseph”, from the village of Sint Geertruid marches past in a parade of 60 “Schutterijen” who once a year come together in Meerssen dressed in their traditional uniforms. They reenact the voluntary citizen militia that used to protect the town in the Middle Ages, a tradition embraced by all ages.
