A parade of Schutterijen in Limburg

“King” and his “Queen”

A “King” in all his finery marches with his “Queen” at the head of one of 60 “Schutterijen” in their yearly festival in Meerssen. The King is an honorary position in his club of voluntary citizen militia, reenacting traditions of centuries ago.
