A parade of Schutterijen in Limburg

“Bordjesdrager”

A “Bordjesdrager”, a child carrying a sign indicating that this group of “Schutterijen” comes from the village of Eys, just south of Heerlen and 22 kilometres east of Maastricht. Clubs of “marksmen”, reenacting the traditions of citizen militia centuries ago, come together in the town of Meerssen for a yearly festival.
