Archimedes screw

The wooden Archimedes screw of De Hantumermolen, the windmill built in 1880 with the purpose of draining the 100 hectares Huntumerleeg. The screw has a diameter of 1.61 metres and is 4.91 metres long. It was inclined at an angle of 20° and each revolution of the screw lifted 1,172 litres of water.
