Harlingen, Friesland's port city

The “Sédyk”

The “Sédyk” (Sea dyke) along the beach on the Waddenzee to the south of Harlingen. A Frisian and a Netherlands flag fly from flagpoles. The statue “De Stenen Man” (The Stone Man) in honour of Caspar de Robles, the Spanish Governor of Friesland during the Spanish occupation in the 16th Century, is in the background and on the horizon is the tower of the Catholic St. Michaels Church.
