De Staalmeesters

“De Staalmeesters” (The Syndics), an oil painting from 1662 by Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. It depicts the Wardens of the Amsterdam Drapers Guild who inspected the quality of dyed cloth. Rembrandt painted them as if they were interrupted by our entrance and look up from their work.
