Het vrolijke huisgezin

“Het vrolijke huisgezin” (The merry family), an oil painting executed in 1668 by Jan Havicksz Steen; in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. It depicts the whole family making merry, father singing with raised glass, mother and grandma joining in, children too, even smoking long pipes. A sign on the wall gives the moral, a bad example from the elders will affect their children.
