Amsterdam, the Capital of the Netherlands

Children of 'De Pijp'

The multicultural background of families living in the Hemonystraat in “De Pijp” neighborhood id reflected in the faces of these children. A substantial number is originally from Morocco and Turkey, result of policies in the past when “guest workers” were sought to deal with a labour shortage. Other children are from Suriname, a former Dutch colony, and the former Netherlands Antilles.
