Sint Maarten 1982

Sint Maarten 1982

The coat of arms of Sint Maarten was adopted on 17 November 1982 and depicts the courthouse at Philipsburg, the capital, on a red-bordered blue shield. Above it is a bouquet of yellow sage blossoms (genus Lantana) with green leaves and the white monument that demarcates the border between the French and Dutch parts of the island. Above the shield is a flying pelican in front of a yellow sun. Around the lower portion of the shield is a yellow ribbon with, in light blue lettering, the Latin motto “Semper progrediens” (Always progressing).
