Sint Maarten 1985

Sint Maarten 1985

The flag of Sint Maarten was designed by 17-year old Roselle Richardson, and officially adopted on 13 June 1985. It is red over blue with a white triangle at the hoist. Red symbolises solidarity and courage, blue stands for peace and assurance of pardon, and white for purity and faith. The colours are also those of the flag of the Netherlands. On the white triangle is the coat of arms of Sint Maarten, adopted in 1982.
