Socialist Republic of the Union of Burma, 1974
Upon the adoption of a Socialist constitution on 4 January 1974, the state seal was changed: the central emblem now became a cogwheel surrounded by dual olive wreaths (symbolising industry and agriculture), topped by a Socialist star replacing the “chinthe”; the supporting two “chinthes” (mythical lion-like creatures) were now in blue. The country's name on the banner was changed to “Socialist Republic of the Union of Burma”.
