Mongolia, 1911
Another design of the flag, adopted when Outer Mongolia declared its independence from the Qing Dynasty and Mongolia’s Spiritual Leader, the Bogd Khan became Emperor of Mongolia. This design is yellow with a red border, featuring the “Soyombo”, the national symbol of Mongolia and other Buddhist symbols in different colours with a religious meaning; the three blue tails from the fly have letters in Soyombo script, the alphabet for Mongolian Buddhism.
