The island of Gozo

Ġgantija temple entrance

The entrance to the northern Ġgantija temple, at the edge of the Xagħra plateau, in the centre of the island. The Ġgantija temples are the earliest Megalithic structures of Malta. The two Ġgantija temples were built during the Neolithic Period, around 3600–2500 BCE, more than 5500 years ago.
