Ġgantija temple niches

Niches in the southern Ġgantija temple, dating from the Neolithic period, around 3600–2500 BCE). There are indications it was a ceremonial site, associated with fertility rites. Researchers have found numerous figurines and statues on the site, associated with that cult.
