Governor-General of Malawi, 1964

Governor-General of Malawi, 1964

On 6 July 1964, Malawi became independent as a Dominion, with the British Monarch (Queen Elizabeth II) as Head of State. She was represented by a Governor-General, whose flag was a Royal Crest (a crowned lion standing on a St Edward’s Crown) and the word “MALAWI” in dark blue letters on a gold scroll below it, all on a royal blue background.
