South Jeolla Province (current)

The emblem of Jeollanam-do, South Jeolla Province, in the far southwest of South Korea, is a yellow square, symbolising the fertile land and rich earth of the province. The orange sun, rising from the blue sea and green landscape, stands for a vigorous life and hope. The symbols below it express heaven's blessing, the beautiful nature of Jeollanam-do and the ocean; the people of the Province point to the future. The green nature and the blue sea expresses the mild and lenient nature of the people living with their traditions and art in South Jeolla Province while the white background stands for the cleanliness and purity of its people. The flag may also display the province's name, in Korean Han'gul or in Latin script.
