Daejeon Metropolitan City
The emblem of Daejeon, South Korea’s fifth-largest metropolis, just south of Sejong between South and North Chungcheong Province, depicts a green petal-like design symbolising farmlands, residential grounds, and the rose of Sharon. Within the symbol is the Chinese characters for “dae”, the first syllable of the city's name, meaning “great”. It also symbolises the spirit and dreams of the citizens of Daejon, who aspire to make their city the country's centre of transportation, administration, science, culture, and commerce.
