Royal Standard (?), 1856

Royal Standard (?), 1856

A Flag Chart in Japan published this illustration of the “Korean National flag” in 1856 and later in 1871 as well; it shows a yellow flag with a black Chinese style dragon and blue clouds, with a red fringe. This cannot be correct: Joseon Korea did not have a national flag until 1882. It may have been a proposal from the Chinese or a Royal Standard.
