Canopus, Villa Adriana

The Canopus, the pond flanked by Corinthian columns and the copies of famous Greek statues is one of the most striking and best preserved parts of the summer villa, built by Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd Century CE in Tivoli, 28 kilometres to the east of Rome on a hill by the Aniene river.
