The Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region (abbreviated as SNNPR) is a multinational state in southwest Ethiopia with an area of 93,800 km². Its capital is Hawassa (Awasa), 273 kilometres south of Addis Ababa, although, following the formation of the Sidama Region in 2020, it now lies outside the region’s boundaries. Its flag is a blue-white-red tricolour with the image of a traditional hut on the central stripe
