Oromiya National Regional State
Oromia is the largest of the National Regional states, in the centre of Ethiopia. With about 353,690 km² it occupies almost 32% of the land area of the country. The capital is Finfinne (part of Addis Ababa, although the government moved the capital to Adama). The Oromo nation had in the past its own social, political and legal system, called “Gadaa” and its traditional colours, displayed in the flag, are red, white and black. On the central stripe is a display of a sycamore tree: in the traditional “Gadaa” system, the leader would meet under the tree before their meetings.
