Empire of Ethiopia, 1949

The Royal Standard of 1949 that also could function as a War Flag depicts on the reverse side St. George slaying the dragon, encircled by the collar of the Order of Solomon’s Seal. In each corner is the badge of the order, a Star of Solomon or David with a cross. The inscription in Amharic script reads “Great Star of Honour”, although this was not always displayed.
