Roman theatre, Soli

The Roman theatre in Soli or Soloi. It was built on the remains of a Greek theatre. It faces the sea and dates back to the end of the 2nd and the beginning of the 3rd century CE. The audience seats were carved in a half-circle on the hill. Stones from here were used in the buildings of Port Said in the 19th century. This part, with a capacity of 4000, is restored up to half of its height. The part visible today was built on top of the stage.
