The statue of Kemal Atatürk with the flags of Turkey and Northern Cyprus and in the background the Morfou Museum of Nature and Archaeology (formerly the Metropolit building) and Saint Mamas Church, in the town of Güzelyurt (Morfou) in the south-west of Northern Cyprus. Before 1974, Morphou was an almost entirely Greek Cypriot community.
