Paphos, the south-west of Cyprus

Kato Paphos Archaeological Park

Overview of the house of Theseus, in Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, containing the major part of the important ancient Greek and Roman City, excavated by the Polish Archaeological Mission of the University of Warsaw. Nea Paphos was probably built by Nicocles, the last King of Paphos, at the end of the 4th century BCE. By the beginning of the 2nd century BCE, it became the capital of the island, replacing Salamis during the Hellenistic era under the Ptolemies.
