Nicosia, Capital of the Republic of Cyprus

In Hadjigeorgakis Kornesios Mansion

The room where the family welcomed guests (ondas) in the Hadjigeorgakis Kornesios Mansion. It is the most notable example of urban architecture of the last century of Ottoman rule that survives in old Nicosia, in the neighbourhood of Saint Antonios, where the wealthy notables of the Greek community traditionally used to live. This Archontiko (mansion) is the house where the dragoman Hadjigeorgakis Kornesios and his family lived between 1793 and 1808.
