Statues representing Greek Cypriot prisoners, peasants, and clergy allowed to escape British rule at the “Eleftheria” (Liberty) Monument, erected in 1973 to honour the anti-British EOKA fighters of the Cyprus Emergency of 1955–1959 at the Podocattaro Bastion of the Venetian walls in Nicosia.
