Gazimağusa (Famagusta), a walled city on the east coast

Saint Anna Latin Church

The Saint Anna Latin Church, in the Syrian quarter Nestorian neighbourhood in medieval Famagusta, also said to have been used as a Maronite Church at some point. It reflects the best characteristics of Southern French Gothic and dates back to the 14th century. In the western walls of the inner walls are the graves of the founder of the order. Once there were Italian style frescoes with Latin engravings underneath, but now very little of that can be seen.
