Aboriginal Ceremonies Central Australia - Ngajakula

Dance with shields

Two men of the Japaljarri subsection dance with “kurdiji”, wooden shields painted with the owl dreaming design relevant to their clan and the song cycle that is being followed during the traditional “Ngajakula” ceremony in Lajamanu, while women dance behind them. Men are encouraging the dancers, clapping boomerangs.
