Gjirokastra, UNESCO World Heritage Town
The Ethnographic Museum in the upper town of Gjirokastra; it is called the home of communist dictator Enver Hoxha (1908 - 1985). However, the house where Hoxha was born, burned down in 1916. It was reconstructed in 1966 and designed as a traditional Gjirokastra house belonging to a wealthy family of merchants or Ottoman administrators living in the 19th Century.
