A'jiniyaz Qosi'bay Uli'

The statue in Nukus of A'jiniyaz Qosıbay ulı, a Karakalpak poet, also known by his pen name Ziywar. He was born in 1824 at the southern coast of the Aral Sea in the village Qami'sh bug'at of the Moynaq District at the mouth of the river Amu Darya where the natives of the Karakalpak tribes Ashmayli and Kiyat used to live. He took part in the Kungrad rebellion of 1858−1859, one of the important events in the history of the people inhabiting the Khorezm oasis.
