The Parliament Building of Karakalpakstan, flying both the Uzbek and Karakalpak flag with a statue of Berdaq G'arg'abay ulı; Berdaq, pseudonym of Berdimurat, was a Karakalpak poet, born in 1827 in a remote village near modern-day Muynaq. His father was a poor fisherman and his mother, who gave him the nickname Berdaq, died when he was 10 years old.
