Previous Aboriginal Initiation Ceremonies from Northern Australia

While men sing and clap boomerangs together young men dance a short fast stepping dance, representing the movements of the frilled lizard during a ''Mandiwa'' initiation ceremony in Barunga community, 80 km from Katherine. They dance in small groups, consisting of tribal brothers, in front of the initiates.
