Triumph of the Cross

The Triumph of the Cross over the Fallen Pagan Idol was painted in 1585 by Tomasso Laureti, on commission by Pope Gregory XIII, on the “trompe l'oeil” ceiling of the Sala di Costantino, in the Vatican Museum.
