Emirate of Fujairah 1961
The family of the Emir of Fujairah, related to the rulers of Muscat and Oman, had not signed the Maritime Treaty with Britain and therefore had kept the traditional plain red flag of the Ibadites, identical to the Omani flag. In 1952 it added the name “Fujairah” in white to distinguish its flag from the other Gulf flags; however, in 1961 it returned to a plain red flag.
