Achterlandse molen paddlewheel

The paddle wheel of the Achterlandse molen, a windmill to pump water from the polder, along the Ammersche Boezem canal. It is one of three similar windmills along the Molenkade in Groot Ammers and dates from 1596 or earlier. In 1865 it was made habitable as the miller's house and it is still inhabited today. Until 1969 it was in operation draining the Liesveld Polder. It was restored in 1978 - 1979 and 2006 and now drains the polder on a voluntary basis.
