The Frisian Wadden Islands

 Willemshof, Schiermonnikoog

The Willemshof with its statue of a Cistercian or “schier” (grey-robed) monk, that gave its name to the island, in the village of Schiermonnikoog (Skiermûntseach in Frisian), the easternmost of the Frisian Wadden islands. The statue dates from 1961 and was made by the sculptor Martin van Waning.
