A parade of Schutterijen in Limburg

Schutters General

A “General” marches proudly at the head of his troops, the members of one of the “Schutterijen”, clubs of “marksmen” or voluntary citizen militia. They come together in the town of Meerssen, dressed in their traditional uniforms, for a yearly festival in which they celebrate traditions of long ago.
