Church of Deinum

The Johannes de Doper kerk (St. John the Baptist church) of the village of Deinum, 9 kilometres west of Leeuwarden. It is an early 13th century building, its tower, characterised by the “sipel” (onion in the Frisian language) instead of a spire, built between 1550 and 1567. The church was once a Roman Catholic church but became a Protestant church after the Reformation.
