The Munsterkerk

The Onze Lieve Vrouwe Munsterkerk (Munster), a 13th century Our Lady church in Roermond, the most important example of Late Romanesque architecture in the Netherlands. It is the only surviving part of an abbey, after its demolition in 1924. The church was restored by architect P.J.H. Cuypers between 1863 and 1890; during this restoration the 55 metres high frontal towers were added. In 1992 the church was damaged by an earthquake, which destroyed the two eastern towers, now rebuilt.
