Fort Sint Pieter

Fort Sint Pieter (Saint Peter's Fortress), built in 1701-1702 on the northern flank of the Sint Pietersberg (Mount Saint Peter) in Maastricht. It was commissioned to defend the southern ramparts of Maastricht against the French, who had occupied the Sint Pietersberg in 1673. The flag of Maastricht flies from the fort.
