A lion holding a shield depicting the Arms of the 11 Frisian towns is displayed at flight of steps at the “Kanselarij” (Chancellery), built from 1566 - 1571 along the Turfmarkt in Leeuwarden. It was a courthouse from 1571 to 1811.
