Tower and church on wierde, Ezinge

The clock tower and Protestant church built on a “wierde”, an artificial hill in Ezinge, 16 kilometres north west of Groningen. These hills were built from the 4th century BCE and villages were established, protected from the sea when the surrounding land flooded.
