Modari-khan mausoleum

The Modari-khan mausoleum (“Mother of the khan”), built in 1825 for the mother of Muhammad Umar Khan, who ruled Kokand from 1810 to 1822. It actually became the burial vault for Omar Khan's widow, the famed poet Nodira, until she was adopted by the Soviets as a model Uzbek woman and moved to a prominent place beneath a white stone tablet, beyond Dakhma-i- Shokhon near the graveyard’s south gate.
