Uzbek Socialist Soviet Republic, 1927

Uzbek Socialist Soviet Republic, 1927

The Uzbek SSR included the Tajik ASSR until 1929, when that autonomous republic was upgraded to a full SSR. The flag was changed in 1927 to include its name in Tajik as well: red with in the canton the abbreviation of the republic’s name, Uz.S.S.R., in Uzbek at the top and Tajik at the bottom, both written in Yanga imlâ Arabic lettering and Russian Cyrillic in between, surrounded by a thin border, all in yellow.
