Khanate of Khiva, 1873

Khanate of Khiva, 1873

The Khanate of Khiva, that had existed in the historical region of Khwarezm from 1511, was conquered by the Russian Empire in 1873 and on 12 August of that year a peace treaty was signed that established Khiva as a quasi-independent Russian protectorate. It is believed it had a flag, displaying on a white field a light blue crescent at the upper hoist.
